Jim Hume MSP: South of Scotland

COMMUNITY HOSPITALS - CONSULTATION EXTENSION WELCOMED BY MSP

1.14.00pm GMT Mon 11th Jan 2010

Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, has today welcomed the news that NHS Dumfries and Galloway officials have extended the public consultation on the future of community hospitals to the end of February.

The MSP has been calling for an extension to the consultation which fell over the Christmas and New Year period, a call which he repeated since the severe weather in the south west of Scotland.

Jim Hume said:

"I am pleased that the health board has taken this decision which will be welcomed by members of the public.

"I understand further that the public involvement meetings which had been arranged fro January will be postponed until March and April.

"It is now crucial that members of the public, NHS staff, patients and relatives respond to the consultation."
