MSP COMMENTS ON HOWIE'S OF DALBEATTIE TAKEOVER

Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, has commented on news that Howie's of Dalbeattie has been bought by Berwickshire based timber company, BSW Timber.

Jim Hume said:

"Howie's is a long established family company and I wish the new set up well.

"It is crucial however that timber contracts and the supply chains which form vital connections to smaller companies in the area are maintained.

"I shall be seeking immediate assurances from the company on this point."
