Jim Hume MSP: South of Scotland

KELSO ICE RINK IN THE SPOTLIGHT

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 2nd Sep 2008

Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, is urging folk in the Borders to vote for a Kelso project on tonight's Primetime programme shown on BBC2 at 8pm.

The MSP said:

"The programme is a joint initiative between the BBC and the Big Lottery to promote health, fitness, well being and physical activity for the over 50s. The programme shows three projects and at the end of the show there's a phone-in vote for your favourite. The Kelso project is curling and is based at the Borders ice Rink in Kelso, a worthy cause.

"If the project organisers win, the money would help the ice rink to provide better curling facilities and would create more sessions for new and developing curlers.

The MSP continued:

It would be great if a Borders venture could win the money and I would urge everyone to vote for the ice rink in Kelso."
